There is an endless possible number of links, that I could post  on this site, and I have chosen, for now a few key Hyper Text Transmission Protocol (see you learned what HTTP stands for if you did not know) for you to use. There are also FTP links, and an entire range of others, that are out there, but the most common ones you face as the web user is the HTTP, FTP, and even at times the VOIP, or Voice OVER Internet Protocol which is just "ways" or "rules" for machines to talk to one another.

What you know as the internet, began for me as a means of getting supplies, and information FAST. (I won't tell you HOW slow it was, or you would laugh, but it was faster than PAPER, and a courier).  If you think TEXTING is SLOW sometimes, try waiting DAYS for a single MESSAGE, and it DID happen, ELECTRONICALLY at one time, not so long ago; and in SOME COUNTRIES, probably still using PUNCH CARDS, still does. (Yes punch cards are still sold to more than just "voters in famous states").
